About Formula
Formula traces to 1962, when offshore racer Don Aronow started the brand in Miami with a 23-foot deep-V that did well in offshore racing. Its parent company, Thunderbird Products, had begun building fiberglass runabouts in Miami in 1956. Vic Porter bought Thunderbird and Formula from Fuqua Industries in 1976, and in 1988 the company consolidated its offices and production in Decatur, Indiana, where it remains a Porter family business.
Formula's range has grown in stages: bowriders and sport cruisers first, Super Sport performance models in 1999, express yachts in 2002, crossovers in 2012 and center consoles in 2022. The boats are built at the company's Decatur plant. Used Formulas span several hull and propulsion generations, so it is best to compare boats of similar age and engine type.
