About Greenline
The Jakopin brothers, Jernej and Japec, founded Seaway in Slovenia in 1983 and spent twenty-five years designing boats for other people - Fairline, Jeanneau, Bavaria, Sea Ray. In 2008 they built their own, and the Greenline 33 Hybrid that launched at Düsseldorf in 2009 was genuinely new: a parallel hybrid drive that switched between diesel and electric, a solar roof that charged the bank, and a superdisplacement hull efficient enough to make the idea work.
The 40 followed, then the 48. The 2008 crash caught the company and it went bankrupt in 2015; SVP Yachts bought the assets and Greenline is still building at Begunje. The proposition is unchanged and still unusual: a boat you can move around an anchorage in silence, that sips fuel at cruising speed, and whose systems will run overnight on the sun. On a used one, establish the age and history of the battery bank before anything else.
