About Pacific Mariner
Pacific Mariner was started in 1996 at La Conner, Washington, by Jack Edson and John Seabeck - Edson's father founded Bayliner, so the family had been building boats in the Pacific Northwest for a long time. The naval architecture came from William Garden, one of the great Northwest designers, and the yard built just two boats: the 65 and the 85.
Westport bought the company in 1999, wanting something below its own 98, and closed the La Conner yard in 2009, moving both designs to the main Westport plant. That is the important part for a buyer: a later Pacific Mariner is effectively a small Westport, with the same engineering, the same MTU installation and the same standard of finish. They were delivered complete - furnished, with linens and flatware aboard - and the ones that have been maintained show it.
