About Post
Post began in 1957 when Russell Post started building wooden sportfishermen at Mays Landing on the Great Egg Harbor River, in the South Jersey tradition that also produced Egg Harbor and Ocean. The yard moved to fiberglass early, sold to Charlie Waters and Bill Schell in 1975, and built more than 750 boats across a dozen models before production ceased around 2008.
The Post 42 is the one everybody knows and the reason the name still carries. These are Jersey boats: a deep forefoot, a soft ride in a head sea, and a cockpit meant for work rather than for entertaining. Everything on the market is brokerage and most of it is thirty years old or more, so the survey is the entire transaction - but the hulls are honest and the owners tend to be the sort who keep records.
